I remember as a young girl, staring into the windows of shops and letting myself be drawn into the world of the window display; the classic little black dresses of Chanel, the uniqueness of Alexander McQueen and the stunning yet still elegant shoes and handbags of Jimmy Choo. My Mum and I always said that if we had more money we’d spend it solely on Jimmy Choo, Chanel and possibly Prada. But now there are so many fakes of every designer you could possibly think of, and some of them are very real looking, why should people still feel the need to spend so much money when they can spend barely anything?

Maybe it’s the shopping experience; entering the shop knowing that even though the shop assistants might be giving you dirty looks that you can afford to buy a bag, dress, pair of shoes, the VIP treatment you receive, the touch, smell, look of the item, the perfectly packaged tissue paper and silk satin ribbon and the feeling of leaving the shop swinging that famous logoed bag by your side. However, I decided to do it the easier way when I randomly received a free amount of money after my flights to Dubai were ‘messed’ up (they weren’t but no matter how many times I tried to tell them it just wouldn’t go through). Online shopping. With it comes fastness and easiness but it loses the whole shopping experience that my friend pointed out is the main point of designer shopping. Open Firefox, Google, Jimmy Choo, Search, and Click and enter into an online word of beauty and fashion at some of its best.

I have always been a fan of Jimmy Choo, starting with my 18th birthday when I desperately wanted a pair of very high pink leopard print shoes that I saw every time I passed the shop window, I thought it was fate, a relationship meant to last forever, but in the end I decided to go with several items from TopShop over a pair of shoes I would probably only keep for show. My second experience with Jimmy Choo was a little different seeing as I am a sucker for sales, well if I’m going to start confessing all my sins I’m probably a shopaholic but that’s a story for another day. Moving on, as soon as I clicked on sale items I knew that was it as I saw items marked down to affordable prices with some having massive drops from their original prices. As I scrolled down the page in wonder I saw it! Yes it, the Jimmy Choo that I was meant to have a life long relationship with, fate had definitely spoken for me and the limited edition 25% of the profit going to the Elton John Aids foundation Pep Zulu wallet/clutch bag. I instantly fell in love with the union jack in the corner, the studs, the rock ‘n’ roll badges on the back, the shininess – it was everything I could possibly want in a little bag and more.

I’ve always been a fan of bags and own an awful lot including a Swarovski crystal environmentally friendly bag made out of old car parts and recycled objects decorated in champagne glasses with the quote ‘I get a kick out of champagne’ scrawled across it, a Paparazzi clutch which is meant to look like it is made out of the front page of a rolled up magazine, a numerous assortment of Guess bags, a massive leopard print River Island clutch that will fit everything and anything in it are among the favourites. Now I cannot wait to add my latest edition when it arrives, although I think I’ll be keeping this one for special occasions only!

Searching for Mr. Right. . .

That perfect couple. That perfect relationship. Everyone is jealous of the first but still endlessly looking for the latter. When does that first couple of months of bliss turn into an ever growing relationship or a dead end no hoper where neither person really knows how to let go? I’m beginning to think that I will possibly always be a little bit unlucky in love and finding that special bond with someone that will turn into that ‘perfect’ relationship that all us girls dream about. I tend to get a four or five monther (that’s where the barrier usually falls) who then decides that they are not ready or don’t have time for or simply don’t want a relationship. Then 2 months later, bang, Facebook status update – ‘blah blah and blah blah are now in a relationship’ (big fat red in your face heart). Where did it all go wrong for me and right for another girl, what did she do differently? We can ask ourselves these questions over and over again but the best thing to do is to pick ourselves up and move steadily on to the next suitor.

‘Tough Love’ is an American reality television series where matchmaker Steven Ward and his mother Joann Ward offer relationship counselling, guidance and lessons to a group of women who seem to always be unlucky in love. And, as it always is in American shows and films, everything turns out to be sickly sweet happy in the end. However, should it be ok for other people to get involved in people’s relationships even if they are trying to help them in the long run? This point is a very serious question because it brings the topic round to the issue of friends getting involved, especially if the friend knows both people in the relationship. This is also incredibly tricky if the friend of both is a girl because the girl in the ‘relationship’ will want to talk about everything, a lot, but this may make the friend uncomfortable and in relationships people can become selfish and paranoid. Personally I believe a friend should not voice their opinion until they know the person is truly ready to hear the truth, they may say they are but you can always tell if they’re not. I’m not saying that you have to lie; I’m merely stating that people should maybe dart around the truth a bit if asked but never openly voice their opinion if they haven’t as this could honestly lead to potential disaster for both parties.

Will I ever find love? Will I ever meet Mr. Right? Will I ever meet that perfect guy that loves me for I am, and as my friend said ‘make me want to cook for him and let him touch my face’? We can trouble ourselves with these tiresome yet popular questions but it’s not going to get us any closer to the answer we want or need to know. So to conclude this little blog post, take each challenge as it comes, make mistakes, get hurt, learn from mistakes, try not to make the same ones again (but if you do it doesn’t matter) and take each day with small steps and you’ll find what you’re looking for eventually.

Creating your own fashion pieces. . .

So I went into the shop Wheels and Dollbaby to buy a dress I had seen on Asos.com, its black sort of a vest dress with High Society Girl in pink italics on the front. . .wore it out with my leather jacket, fishnet holdups, black hat and a necklace I custom made.

When I bought the dress I noticed some badges by the checkout and immeadiatly fell in love with a little black badge with white italic writing stating 'Fuck off i'm with the band', very punk rock! Also my friend is trying to help me stop spending money so she says everytime I buy something I have to buy her something so as I wanted the dress so badly I bought her a badge with High Society Girl on it :)

But when I got home I couldn't find anywhere to pin the badge that looked good so I got out a silver chain from one of my other necklaces and attached the badge to that :)

'This is not a Bomb'

A friend introduced me to this artist a couple of months ago and yes i thought his work was interesting but I didn't really think anything of it. But today, while nursing the hangover from hell, i decided i was in a creative mood and thought why don't I take a look at his website. Will Coles has a talent for turning an ordinary object that we are fond of or used to into an artistic piece with a difference maybe even with a sadistic hidden message.

Some of his items include guns with Mickey Mouses' head sticking out the end, televisions with a single word on the screen, mobile phones with I miss U on the engraved in the screen etc. Another reason that this artist is so unique is the places that he leaves his sculptures; in front of the Opera House, in a grave yard as part of the head stone, crashing a sculpture walk that he was not invited to give work too and dingy alleyways.

I'm thinking a little Cath Kidson esque. . .

A new home

So exciting news fellow followers, finally moving into a new apartment on Sunday. . .very very very excited about this!
A tad sad to be moving out of Bondi I must admit but I've been in Bondi since October and as its now May I figured a change should happen and when the opportunity arose i couldn't turn it down!

A couple of reasons why this apartment is going to be amazing:
1. Its in the city. . .right in the heart of it (next to Scruffy Murphies for all you Aussies out there), just down the road from Scubar, Side Bar, Star Bar, The Three Monkeys, Karaoke and the cinema with loads of restaurants and places where fun can be had!

2. Its near college and work and my agency so no more super early stupid mornings and no expensive cabs!

3. The building is incredible: pool, gym, a massive covered balcony, my flatmates' fish, my own room with queen sized bed and wardrobe and desk, amazing shower, dish washer, washing machine. . .what more could I need?!

4. My flatmates are super cool Russians :)

So in order to mark this special occasion and to make my room really feel like a home as it certainly deserves it I went to Laura Ashley (tres expensive) to buy my bed linen.
As I entered the shop the most amazing pillow caught my eye (and also the extremely irresistible sale prices) which was pink and one side and then white with a pink flower pattern on the other side for $139 (ouch). I also wanted a purple throw but it was way too expensive so I try and save for one! The bed sheets are green with a white leaf pattern ($237, another ouch) and the duvet cover is green with pink roses decorating it ($249, big big ouch) but with the sale of buy 3 items get 30% off i felt slightly (and only slightly) happier with the end result of $470!
I wisely decided to get my three pillows and duvet from Target to save a tiny bit of money but on my way there I stopped into another shop and bought a London plaque to put on my wall!

I seriously cannot wait to start buying little items to make it feel like home!

Milkiz Designs

So as my agency (Platform Models) haven't called me in a while (and I mean a while, I haven't heard from them since the day I left to go back to England for 3 weeks which was in february!) I decided to take matters into my own hands, as I am still finding a lot of work through Model Mayhem, and have my own business cards made.

I saw that one of my makeup artists (Sarah Jane Bryan - Glamour Doll creations) had used Milkiz Designs on facebook and decided to give them a try. Elizabeth Walker, the woman whom I spoke with, was very very helpful and always knew exactly the idea I was thinking of just as I said it!

In a night we came up with the perfect design and I cannot wait to start handing them out at all the different fashion functions I attend.
