A life changing moment.

Firstly I apologise for the awful pictures but my camera has run out of battery, the charger is Australian and nowhere in London wants to sell me a Fujifilm camera charger so am having to use my crackberry camera.

I find it strange how one moment can change everything in your life, and the fact that these moments can mean so much to one person but so little to another.

Today started off the same as any day apart from the fact that the night before I had crammed all my fashion knowledge into my head by reading magazines such as 'Love', 'Elle Collections' 'Company' 'Vogue' etc in prepartion for my London College of Fashion test for Fashion Public Relations.
As I woke I was nervous and became even more so as I entered the college - the test was challenging and unfortunatly I did not recieve an interview (3rd time unlucky) so I decided to do a bit of retail therapy in the form of Top Shop and Urban Outfitters.

I love Urban Outfitters because you can get such random pointless items which are really cool and quirky such as lego cameras and MP3 players, fish eye cameras, hip flasks and books.
Today my theme seemed to be flowers. . .everything I bought was patterned with flowers which was definitely not intentional.
In UO I purchased grey socks with a flower pattern, a white bag covered in clusters of pink, yellow and blue flowers, sunglasses with the exact same patterning as the bag and a hip flask with pink flowers surrounded by gold etching.
See the pictures below and tell me what you all think:

RIP Alexander McQueen. . .a great loss to the Fashion World

A facebook status from a friend reporting the death of Alexander McQueen was such a huge shock to the system that I had to google it to make sure it was actually true, but as I saw more and more statuses confirming this terrible news i felt so sad. Such a loss to the fashion world, an inspirational man whose designs were incredible (skull patterned scarves) and who brought change to the cut throat world of fashion.

Whilst talking to a friend, we both agreed that even though he was not one of our favourite designers we still loved what he created and for me it has to mainly be his catwalks. One of his catwalks on my channel started my obsession with the catwalk world and my love of watching endless models parade up and down wearing clothes from different designers from all over the world!

This catwalk was the Autumn/Winter menswear 2009 - 2010 which was described as being 'like something out of a Dickens Novel' with the tall hats, white makeup, old street lamps, dark lighting and creepy atmosphere:

My condolences go out to the family who have taken down his website and are not making any statements to the press to give them time to grieve properly as the reports of him having comitted must be so hard to deal with.

Fashion has lost a true star!

'Wear them tight to excite. . .'

The above slogan is just one of the slogans on the new bracelets that I purchased from Jack Wills today, with the other one saying 'Low Rise. Come to bed eyes.'
Personally I love JW but find the clothes a little too pricey even though they are nice quality with hunting jackets starting at prices of around £200 and jumpers going for almost £90.
However recently they have started selling badges, bracelets, matches and just little pointless cheapish things that people like to buy and I think it is the start of something great.
For Christmas my sister bought me some Jack Wills' condoms which I thought was a great gift idea and quite amusing to say 'o yea I have designer condoms'. Whilst talking to my friend I also found out that Marc Jacobs sells condoms and personally I do think designer condoms are quite a COOL novelty item even though most people would say it was a waste of money seeing as they can get them for free.

'Bad Taste is Better than No Taste'

The slogan above is for a brand I catwalked for last year called 'Your Eyes Lie' who have a small shop in Camden and a section in the Oxford street Top Shop with the website http://youreyeslie.com/. This is one of the pictures taken at the catwalk at Proud Camden:

I went into Top Shop the other day as I am back in England for three weeks and the one in Sydney is very small and not very good, and also I had a £60 gift card to spend. This time of the year is a bad time to buy clothes due to the fact that it is too cold to start buying the spring clothes but the winter clothes are the last of the sale items so I wasn't really expecting to find anything. The reason I love the London Top Shop so much is because of the bottom floor that sells other brands and vintage clothes which is the place that I always manage to find something that I like.
The website doesn't have the two items I bought and my camera has run out of battery so I will just describe them to you for now and get you pictures at a later date.
  1. Light grey jumper with black sleeve to elbow on one arm with quote 'Wild Child - London Only - No.5' - taken from the new Chanel perfume
  2. Dark grey crop top tee with same slogan - loved the idea of it so much

The new collection theme definitely has a hint of Chanel, from these slogans to jumpers with slightly deformed Chanel logos.

Definitely one of my buys of the week!
